First Aid at Work (FAW)

Our Fist Aid at Work course is regulated by Ofqual and Accredited by Qualsafe, this is a nationally recognised qualification, the intended audience for this course is below:

An person who are appointed a First Aider in their workplace. It is also ideal for any person who have specific responsibility to provide First Aid in voluntary and community activities.

Course Objectives

Objectives Day 1:

  1. Understand the Roles & Responsibilities of the emergency first aider
  2. Understand how to asses a first aid incident and a casualty
  3. Understand how to manage an unresponsive casualty who is no breathing normally
  4. Understand how to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
  5. Understand how to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
  6. Understand how to manage a casualty with external bleeding and hypovolaemic shock
  7. Understand how to manage a casualty with a minor injury
  8. To complete and pass appropriate multiple choice papers and practical assessments

Objectives Day 2:

  1. Understand the basic functions of the respiratory system
  2. Understand the causes, signs and symptoms of Hypoxia
  3. Understand how to administer first aid to a casualty with chest injuries
  4. Understand how to administer first aid for asthma or hyperventilation and recognise the contrasting difference between the two conditions
  5. Understand the basic functions of the circulatory system
  6. Understand how to treat nose bleeds, amputation, embedded objects, crush injuries and recognise potential internal bleeding
  7. Understand how to identify and treat different types of eye injuries
  8. Understand the different types of shock related to first aid and treat a casualty who has fainted
  9. Understand how to administer a casualty with Anaphylaxis shock
  10. Understand how to provide first aid to a casualty with angina or heart attack
  11. Understand how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected stroke
  12. Understand how to administer first aid for a casualty with burns and scolds
  13. Understand how to administer first aid for a casualty with sudden poisoning

Objectives Day 3:

  1. Understand how to provide first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones and joints
  2. Understand how to provide first aid to a casualty with a sprain or strain
  3. Understand how to administer first aid to a casualty with suspected spinal injury
  4. Understand how to administer first aid to a casualty with a suspected head injury
  5. Understand how to conduct a Secondary Survey
  6. Understand how to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected diabetes
  7. Understand how to provide first aid to a casualty with epilepsy
  8. To complete and pass appropriate multiple choice papers and practical assessments
