I started my career in Accountants in my father’s Citroen Dealership in Great Dunmow, he encouraged me to take my AAT qualifications (Association of Accounting Technicians), and I passed my final examinations and became a member in 1999. After a short career break whilst I had our daughter, Rebecca in 2003, I carried on my Accountancy career with GRI in Braintree. It was then I decided to take the plunge, and become a Licenced Member in Practise with the AAT and work for myself. At first I provided on-site book-keeping services to local clients – which is when I came to work for Franklins Fire and Safety in 2007 as their Accountant. I have seen them steadily grow from our desk sharing days in their garage, to the business they have built up today and am very proud to have been involved in the successful business they have nurtured. My business model has grown enormously and has changed quite significantly since then, and whereas I still provide on-site book-keeping services for a few of my original clients, my business has now evolved into providing a low-cost accountancy solution for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies all over the country and I was awarded Fellowship status with the AAT in 2012. I now spend my time juggling my business, time with our daughter and renovating our house – which could be a full time job in itself sometimes.
